Summer is on the way again and it's swimsuit season again and you have decided that you deserve to buy yourself a new sexy bikini. On second thoughts, however, you might consider buying a tankini instead. Sometimes it's a battle of the ages, but at other times, it's more a consideration of what your midsection looks like and the level of your self-esteem and confidence. A tankini is a great way to show off your better points and also to conceal the less attractive parts of your body.

Five reasons for purchasing a tankini instead of a bikini:

They cover up stretch marks across the stomach or hip area

They can hide a scar across the stomach region from a cesarean section surgery

They diminish the appearance of excessive belly fat

They disguise a pregnant stomach before you've made your announcement

They elongate your body and give the appearance of a longer frame

If you're going away and you'll be spending a lot of time at the beach where there are hundreds of other tourists, it probably doesn't make much difference whether your tummy is large, has stretch marks, or bears a scar from childbirth. However, if you by nature are self-conscious and do not want to have young children looking and pointing at you or feeling out of place with other women clad in bikinis and slender bodies, then definitely buy a tankini. A good place to start your search for a tankini is by looking online. There are many online stores now who display hundreds of styles and colors.

If the rest of your body is in good shape and you just want to relax and enjoy along with your companion, or your family, it really doesn't make much difference what you wear as long as you are comfortable with the color, design, and style.

However if you're overweight, then you might want to consider buying a one piece swimsuit. Better than that you should consider a tankini. We've all seen seniors who look great and physically fit wearing a two-piece suit or a tankini. As long as the fabric color and design are two things that please and flatter you then you will most likely feel very comfortable wearing a tankini.

Another alternative to buying a bikini is to purchase more than seperate pieces and match them up together. This is what makes tankinis so popular. You can mix and match your outfits. This will give the impression that you have many swimsuits to choose from, as in fact you do. Choose colors which suit your skin typ and hair color and freely mix and match.

Regardless of whether you choose a bikini or a tankini, when you display a confident and self-esteemed attitude, it doesn't make any difference which style swimsuit you buy or wear. There is a tankini style and color out there for every body type.
